If you were at the Broomfield fireworks show and your kid(s) got a box of crayons from me, thank you for that opportunity. It was a great night. I handed out 100 boxes, shared a few laughs with the kids, and spent time with the local fire and police teams. The parents I met were kind, and the kids were amazing. I hope that little moment brought some joy to your evening. Huge "Thank you!" to our community and surrounding business supporters who helped make it possible.

Melted Crayons Mission is a purpose-driven initiative, created by founder Jeffrey Alumbaugh and a small advisory board of proud, purpose-driven moms. Best known as rock and roll’s backdrop painter, Jeffrey now puts the story that spans decades of gratitude into action, helping kids who’ve lost everything in a home fire rediscover color and hope. A child stood outside the ashes of his family’s home, burned during the 2025 Eaton Fire in LA County, and the loss of color was a concern of his. As an artist whose work has toured arenas and stages across the globe, I couldn’t ignore the contrast. I’ve had a fortunate career. Now, it’s time to redirect that privilege into purpose.
Together with a small advisory board of moms, each bringing heart, hustle, and real-world insight, we’re building something simple but powerful: fast-response art supply kits for children affected by house fires. These kits aren’t just crayons, markers, or sketchpads. They are a way to begin healing, and they're a message that says: you’re seen, and your creativity matters.
This mission is fueled by gratitude, guided by compassion, and sustained by everyday people and businesses who believe that the humanities are everybody's responsibility. Show Less
MCM is designed to respond at the appropriate time soon after a family has experienced a home fire. Through a growing network and AI-assisted monitoring, we are excited and very anxious to further the progress and momentum towards helping the kids after a fire, as well as kids with other forms of tramua. It all matters.
Soon to be a registered 501(c)(3)
Since the start, Melted Crayons Mission has been operating under the same guidelines as a non-profit, including transparency to the public as we prepare to transition into a registered organization. We are happy to share our records and answer any questions you may have.
The Color Burst 100!
Date: July 4th, 2025
Location: Broomfield County Commons Park
During Broomfield’s Fourth of July celebration, Melted Crayons Mission will be on-site handing out 100 packs of crayons to young kids, with each one given with a quick burst of close-up magic. Founder Jeffrey Alumbaugh will move through the crowd, sharing simple moments of wonder that leave kids smiling and parents curious to learn more.
The Color Burst 100 is a small but intentional act of joy, designed to leave a lasting impression long after the fireworks fade. Just crayons, just a trick, and just enough to remind families that someone out there still believes in paying it forward.

Hey Now! You're An All-Star!
Date: TBA - Summer 2025
Location: Broomfield, CO. Various Locations
Painted a few years ago for the band Smash Mouth, whose song All-Star was featured in Shrek, and now on the new Candy Crush advertisements, donated this painted stage backdrop back to MCM. Jeffrey painted this backdrop for their tour a few years ago, and now it’s becoming part of something new: a relaxed park event where families can stop by, pick up free crayons or colored pencils, and take a professional photo in front of a piece of pop culture history. There’s no big production planned, just a simple way to create some community connection. Every smile created and moment captured becomes part of a story that reminds people why art, creativity, and childhood matter, especially for kids who’ve lost everything in a home fire. Replacing those supplies is extremely important for their healing process, and we'll be taking donations that help with the supplies for kids in the Denver area. Donations also help with shipping, if needed, for out-of-state incidents we responded to.

Calling All Kids to Smash a World Record!
Date: TBA- Fall 2025
Location: Broomfield, CO
Fun! Challenging! World record! Several years ago, we thought about pursuing a record for the number of stage backdrops painted here, but now the focus is on something fresh: we're gonna use thousands of crayons, all properly positioned by kids, for a cinematic video shoot that will capture attention and meaning of MCM's path.
This event will take coordination across multiple levels and the help of a whole bunch of kids placing crayons in position. When successful, it won’t just be a record, it’ll be a vibrant symbol of community unity, creativity, and support for the arts, especially for children in the near future who’ve lost everything in a home fire.
Are you interested in a non-disclosure agreement for a secret reveal and discussing a sponsorship? We're not prepared to release the full vision and plan publicly just yet, but it's gonna be cool, and we’re actively seeking support through sponsorships, donations, and pledges. Use the simple form that will pop-up to raise your hand for deeper info and get to involved.
The Melted Crayons Mission does its best to provide art supplies and extended support to kids who sadly experienced a home fire, but prevention is equally important and needs to be addressed. Educating kids and their families about fire safety reduces the risk of fire and protects them and their family from a that devastating loss.
This is a video we found on YouTube. It's fun and worth sharing with your children. We are looking forward to having our own videos like this one day. Video Credit: Robocar POLI TV
